This car, like all PTTM quality cars has received a complete check-up and engine and drivetrain tests, everything is in great shape and the car is ready to be enjoyed once its on our showroom floor !
Bodywork & Trim

Very original and laser straight body, chassis and floors and great original FE5 color paint.

All the glass, trim and chrome are in as new condition and so is all the special Cuda trim.

Everything on the car is of the highest possible quality and correct according to its year

and factory original build.

Seeing this car is a real California build and sold car, its equipped with the very rare N97 and N95

noise reduction and anti-smog packages that are still on the car today. The rear lower valance

panel with its turn down exhaust pipes are fully correct as well. VERY RARE INDEED.

The car carries its original style hockey style stripe as coded per fender tag's and 15 inch rally wheels with

correct chrome trim rings. The current tires are white letter street tires but on request we can also

sell the car with its original style poly glass versions, which are however NOT to be used on the street.

ENGINE

Original and pro rebuild 426 Hemi with its original Dual quad intake ( cast 2780544)

and factory original rebuild carter dual 2x 4bbl carbs with the correct part numbers

for an automatic trans car ( 4746-S & 4742-S) and factory original rare shaker hood

and shaker bubble and air intake system. Original and correct exhaust manifolds

and its factory correct Mopar perf. ignition distributor and with date correct spark plug cables.

Correct extra cooling package with 26 inch radiator.

Very clean and highly detailed engine bay.

The engine was rebuilt with better than original, forged pistons and special

bulletproof Clevite bearings. The cam was slightly upgraded as well which

gives this car, even more, power than the original 425hp. We estimate

that the car has close to 500+HP now, but it still carries its factory

original heads, intake, and carbs and runs with the same characteristics

as the original and it has a nice sloppy idle and great throttle response.

We have leak down tested the engine and completely serviced the car and its drivetrain.

We have also driven this car and it drives and handles like new, no work needed!

DRIVETRAIN AND SUSPENSION

All original Hemi performance suspension with special leaf springs and shocks and

the very desirable Super performance rear axle package with 4,10 rear axle gears

and the Dana 60 rear axle with lim.slip diff.

All in restored condition.

The underside of the car is highly detailed and carries the correct original factory markings and

inspection points.

INTERIOR

Very clean and correct, fully correct restored interior with black bucket seats and

floor console with slap stick shifter. As new door panels, carpets and

headliner and factory original rally dash with tacho.

Everything here is in great and restored shape with no cracks or flaws.

This high quality restored, ultra-rare and numbers matching 1970 Plymouth HEMI 426 Cuda, that is painted in the highly desirable and original FE5 Rally red paint color with black vinyl top and black hockey stripes. its a very rare highly opted 2 ! fender tag car that's loaded with special and unique option combinations. The car is an original California produced and sold new car and therefore very rare indeed. Not many Hemi Cuda's were delivered new in this dry state. It's also a car that's in amazing condition and loaded with options.


Its also a Performance axle package A32 coded car with dana 60 rear axle and 4.10 gears !. For sure there are more Hemi-Cuda's for sale... but very rarely do they have there original matching engine and transmission still in the car and most of them have had extensive bodywork done and also have lost many of there original parts still in place so there much less original that the car we present you here, We have also seen that many Hemi Cuda's have options added later or colors changed.. from the original. But this car, seen in that perspective is absolutely rare and much more valuable and interesting than most others on the market today.


The car is a second owner car and NEVER left the dry California state. It was produced in the Chrysler LA plant and afterward's, it was sold to its first owner who also lived there as did the second owner. This rare Hemi-Cuda probably never ever saw a drop of rain in its life.


The car was with its second owner for almost 30 years and it was he who rotisserie restored the car with the help of the famous Mopar restorer Roger Gibson and other great names in the restoration business such as restoration by Julius.The current low 27000 miles on the cars speedo are claimed to be original by the second owner. He bought the car in 1988 and it stood in his garage for more than 10 years before he could find the time to start the restoration of this beauty. It took another 10-12 years to find all the right and rare parts to complete it and the car was only driven rarely since then to some car shows and a trip to the ice cream stand on Sunday's. So the car remained in fantastic shape for all those years. The car was stored in a climatized garage and started up for a small drive around the block every couple of weeks. 


The car is really rare seeing it's a proven original California car that's loaded with options and has 2 ! fender tags. A Hemi Cuda in itself is already pretty rare and high on everybody's wishlist, but this car is even more desirable and rare. Its the first time this car is ever offered on the market and a rare sight and find indeed. The fact that it spend all of its life in the dry and warm California! area would declare its solid original structure. The fact that the only sheet metal that was ever replaced on the car is a mid-section of the trunk floor, proves that and the car is otherwise completely original and has all its original parts still in place. Its extremely rare to find original unmolested cars with there original body, chassis, support frames and floors still there, but this car is one of them.


When we found the car in California with its second owner, the car carried its unique California 426CUDA license plates that you see on the pics came with the car, how fun is that !. We have had the privilege of having some very rare Hemi cars in our showroom in the past and we all loved them and they were all sold to happy new owners, but with this great find we have again outdone ourselves and were very proud to be able to offer it to you. It took some massaging and persuading and hard negotiating but after the owner understood we were not leaving his grounds without the car, and after promising him to find the car a good new home for this legend, he finally broke and took the car home. We for sure understood his hesitations to sell it, seeing he owned it for so many years and invested so much time and money in the car to preserve it for future generations to come. Out of respect for that are obligated to make sure to find it a great new home.


The list of special extra options is very long indeed !, especially for a Hemi Cuda !, which were normally not highly opted when sold new. The car is super solid and original and as far as we can tell and its equipped with most or all its unique and rare factory original options and parts. The car is very detailed and the restoration was done with a very high level of correctness and true perfection. Today such a high-end restoration would cost around 175-225.000,- alone, and that's without the rare car itself which unrestored would cost at least another 150000,- euro alone and that is if you could find one to restore and as rare and high optioned as this one.


The 426 Hemi and its TF727 Transmission carry there correct Vin and production numbers, and all the original body Vin markings and codes are still and the car is equipped with 2 ! fender tags to prove its pedigree, how unique is that !. The engine and transmission were Pro-rebuild ( a full map of invoices comes with the car ) and in fantastic condition. The car is furthermore equipped with the desirable and rare ( especially for an automatic! ) Super performance axle package with Dana 60 Rear axle and 4.10 gears and lim. slip diff, Power Steering and Power front disc brakes, which makes it a real performance beast that's also very comfortable to drive.


The underside of the car is also AMAZING and ultra clean and correctly detailed. And instead of its original factory sticky undercoating, the car is now sprayed in a superb, special layer of protective undercoat inside gloss black that's very easy to keep clean after any type of ride. The complete exhaust system, FRONT to back is heat resistant and ceramic coated! a very expensive procedure, but it goes to show how well this car is built and detailed. PTTM has also detailed the car's underside further by adding the factory correct underside markings like the factory inspectors did at the factory just before a car was ready to be shipped.


We also have a copy of the factory build sheet with the car, as well as other historical documents and a huge map full with invoices for all the work done and all the parts that were restored, which is a great feature to have with such an important and rare highly collectible car. But one of the best features of this car might also highly correct and original, from the correct coded carbs, intake and radiator to the factory original shaker hood and shaker bubble, everything is there and original and believe us when we say that on most of the restored Hemi-Cuda's you see on the markets today, these rare original and important pieces are long gone and most of them have incorrect, replaced or new, aftermarket parts that are not correct or original to these rare cars. It's for sure one of the best and most correct True Hemi-Cuda's we have ever seen which ad's to the car's value and pedigree as the icon that it is.


The 1970 Hemi Cuda is a legendary car, it was the first time the Hemi 426 elephant engine was officially for sale in an E body muscle car and because of its high price tag was only sold in low numbers. Of the approx 640 ever build cars only 377 were equipped with the extra cost opted Automatic transmission. With an estimated 5% of all Cuda's sold in this color, it would mean the car is one of around 20 auto-trans cars in this color and maybe 4-5 had the optional vinyl top added, so this car is a rare find no matter how you look at it. And in addition to this car's unique and special options and the highly desirable Dana 60 axle package, it could easily be a true and rare one of one build car. But besides that, how many true original Hemi Cuda's with there original drive train's and options would still exist today? Not many, we can guarantee you that!

And although the 71 model might even be rarer seeing much less were sold because of the upcoming fuel crisis, we feel the 70 HemCudada is more aggressive and stylish and much more correct to the Barracuda style features were the car got his name from.


Most Hemi Cuda's, we come across are more or less "low" optioned cars, were not even a very desirable rally dash with tacho or even front disc brakes were standard options and many cars didn't even have bucket seats or a floor shifter. The only true and great option Hemi Cuda's had was the fact that the shaker hoods were a mandatory base option.So no, the base cars didn't have many options when the left the factory and most sold car's lacked any additional options which were probably caused by the fact that the Hemi engine alone was already a really expensive option to choose on the option list at the dealerships.


This makes our Hemi-Cuda an even more rare car seeing its really loaded with everything you could want on such a high-end performance car. Seeing it was also originally ordered with its Super performance axle package and 4.10 rear axle gears, this car must have been KING of the streets back then. The combination of the automatic trans and this rear-end package meant that it was faster in the 0-100 mph range than even a 4-speed car. ). And although a 4-speed car would normally be very desirable as well, with this axle-trans combination this car is hard to beat. The 0-60mph per hour performance must be in the lower 5 or high 4 sec's range and if you tweaked the legendary engine a bit, the would be even faster.


The first original owner must have been a true performance guy seeing this car was ordered with these special and very expensive performance options. Seeing the car is also equipped with the extra cost power front disc brake option combined with the 11' inch dana 60 performance rear drum brakes, the first owner also understood that speed was one thing, but braking and safety was another and this rare car has all that.


Besides the extreme horsepower these engines had, the also had the much more important 490 ! ft.lbs ( 665 nm !) of torque that made these cars very fast in the 0-60mph ranges and on the race and drag race tracks were the won many championships and became true legend's, as horsepower is nice for great top-end speed, Torque is the true key to a car's performance on the street or strip.


Up until today, the HEMI name is world famous and Chrysler re-introduced the name and part of the original Hemi -head design into there performance cars again as of 2003 up until today. But although these new generation Hemi's are formidable engines by themselves, they don't have the same impact and the lack the 426 Hemi's famous characteristics. In the drag racing community, the Hemi's unique engine design is still unbeatable and VERY successful and still win's world championships. No other engine design, despite the fact that the competition in the famous Detroit area tried to beat it time and again, was ever more successful. Proof of that is the fact that in Dragracing it's still THE engine to beat up until today.. more than 50 years later!


A well tuned top-fuel drag race 500cubic inch Hemi engine, with the addition of a roots blower and Nitro fuel, brings close to 13000 !! ( yes.. thirteen thousand ) and more Horsepower...amazing !. Keep in mind that this was 1970 !, were most cars, especially in Europe had around 25-30hp and performance cars had maybe 100+hp !... Even Ferrari's and Porsche's maybe had around 50 % of the Hemi's monster power !. And we then don't even mention the torque this legendary engine had...and seen in that daylight you can understand that a Hemi Cuda and other Hemi equipped Chrysler cars were legendary cars that made its mark in the sports and performance car world as the car with the most HP/torque in the world...A record that the car held for many decades! 


So the Hemi engine is a true legend and was a very important engine design than as well as today and its a true icon in many sorts of motorsports. This in combination with the sleek, short wheel based great looking Cuda body, made up a very desirable combination. You could buy a more or less race ready car at the dealership and drive it to the racetrack on Sunday an win the event, and than afterward's drive it back home.


Many of the original Hemi-Cuda's were also used by semi and full professional race teams and the won numerous races and events. That's part of the reason why finding a correct and original uncut car is rare, especially with there factory original engines and drivelines as many were damaged and ruined at the tracks. So owning one of these rare cars with there extremely strong and powerful engine and drive train's, therefore, is a privilege which only few can afford as they have become very valuable.


The 70' Cuda was a very well designed car with super aggressive body lines and recessed grill which was meant to resemble an angry looking barracuda. The interior was very spacey and much larger than the average muscle car in those day's and these car's really stood out against any other car of its era. With the Hemi Cuda's having the normally extra cost option, special Shaker hood air intake system standard it made these car's stand out even more. Start a Hemi Cuda up and you will understand why they were called shaker hoods!


We offer this iconic beauty, that also completely show quality restored, WELL below its normal market estimated price. Haggerty and other classic car market specialists estimate these cars around 375/400.000,-, and with this car great and highly desirable options it might easily be worth more than these estimates. We have seen lesser optioned and less conditioned cars sell for close to 450k or more... and prices will keep rising on these special muscle cars as they have done in the last 35 years!


But besides money or good investments, owning a true rare Hemi-Cuda gives great joy and is a very exclusive car that only a few people in the world can enjoy or afford. We, for instance, would rather own this car than any new modern type of supercar that might even cost twice as much because it just gives you much more pleasure and exclusive feel, than any modern car has. And besides that the car's character is unique and something you need to experience, if only once in a lifetime!
